I love this novela. tiene un tema original. even though it was the remake of another novela it has many changes like in gitanas it was based on the novela romane, but the ending ant the people were tottally different. i also like it because its the first time i see a guy in a novela that doesnt cry so much over the girl. he doesn't spend so much of is time telling her he loves her, gabriel is more like my duty comes first then the gir kind of guy.

I find it a great way to improve my Spanish, as you can get both English and Spanish closed caption.I find it entertaining, though the plot often seems contrived and the actors overact, which may just be customary for Latin American novelas. Because of the contrived plot and overacting, one can just laugh at the novela and be entertained. It is highly romantic and melodramatic. I can't see how someone could historically date the plot to the late 1800's -- the automobiles date the story. It looks to me like part of the revolution which came to Mexico with the Zapatistas. One thing in the story's favor is that it has a lot of plot; not like the recent Star Wars movie where there is hardly any plot, but screen time wasted with long, drawn out, ridiculous fights. Another thing in its favor, I hope, is that the story actually comes to an end -- not like unending American soap operas. In short, the story is not "great drama," but it is entertaining and helpful for persons learning either Spanish or English, thanks to the multiple closed caption channels that now exist (even if once in a while the caption system fails).

The characters that described as "Muslim" in this soap opera are not
Muslims! Period! Samia, Yasir, Lalia are Arab names, which are largely used in the Muslim
world as well; however this does not mean they are Muslim. Also, I have seen
many times Samia crossing. With all respect, this is a Christian tradition.
Even though I love this TV series and watch every weeknight anxiously with
English subtitle, I am not sure why that family is called Turkish even
though they are from Lebanon. The Ottoman Empire was not occupying Lebanon
in the late 1800s not early 1900s.
