thanks to Gianni Pinotti
The story develops in the Torino of 1800 in the empire of UmbertoI (The Italian Renaissance). It's a children tale with a lot of feelings and often dramatic tones. The story is told by Enrico Bottini of a wealthy family composed by the parents Alberto and Adriana, and the siblings Nino and Silvia. It is about children who attend the Primary School until the Examination Eleven. In the school there are: the teacher Mr Perboni, strict but very humane; the priest Padre Fernando and the students: Garrone the fat child, altruistic and generous, Coretti with a joiner father, Carlo Nobis the most snob, the terrible twins Pino and Pano, De Rossi the most studious, Antonio Rabucco ("The little bricklayer") because his father is a brick layer, Precossi the poorest, Betti with a coalman father, Franti a naughty child destinated to an ugly destiny, and others: Garoffi, Votini, Robetti, Crossi, Stardi... For a short period of time Mr Perboni is substituted by the teacher Ms Delcati who is very loved by the students. Every month Mr Perboni read a story, such as: "The lombard revenge", "the little Florence copyist", "From the Apennines to the Andes", "The nurse urchin", "The Sardinian drummer", "Blood of Romagna", "The Paduan patriot"... It is a classic for Italian children...
