Private eye Leonardo Rivadeneira is visited by a beautiful, elegant woman who identifies herself as Magdalena Dumont and who tells him an extraordinary story. Years ago, Estefanía, her only child, was kidnapped. Ing. Octavio Muriel, Magadalena's husband, paid the ransom at the appointed place, but the kidnappers' helicopter burst into flames as they tried to escape, leaving no survivors. Before departing, the criminals shot Octavio in the hand, and he has worn a steel artificial limb since. Despair drove Magdalena to alcoholism, yet in an attempt to leave the bottle, she initiated an inquiry to find out what really happened the day Estefanía was abducted. The results are horrifying, since they point at Octavio as the mastermind behind his child's kidnapping. To Magdalena's joy, the investigation reveals that Estefanía did not really die and that she is now living in Canada as Natalia de Jesus. She has lost her sight, has no recollection of her past, and is a teacher for the blind. Magdalena wants to hire Leonardo to expose her husband as a criminal, and he accepts. But before his job begins, Magdalena dies under strange cirscumstances. Leonardo is rehired by Mr. Dumont, Magdalena's ailing father, who wants him to unmask Octavio as a murderer. Although Ing. Muriel is now the sole heir of his dead wife, there's a clause in Magdalena's testament that leaves her corneas to be transplanted in the eyes of Natalia and restore her sight. Later Magdalena's will is opened and her daughter Estefania is named the only heir. But she is believed dead and all the family is fighting over the will. Alfonso doesn't believe in the official version of Magdalena's death because she was a good swimmer. Leonardo meets and falls in love with Natalia but her aunt Antonia and Hans are opposed. Natalia has the premonitions with Magdalena's eyes, she sees Octavio with a mask, killing Magdalena, but she doesn't understand what does that mean. Octavio commits a set of murders to save himself and not to be discovered: Julio, Hans and the Inspector Obregon. Then he discovers that Natalia is actually Estefanía and he wants to shut her in a clinic. Natalia asks Don Alfonso the truth about her birth and he reveals that her real father isn't Octavio but Padre Serrata. Then Abigail, Octavio's secretary, kills Octavio and for Leonardo and Natalia it's the beginning of a new life.
