The lawyer Julia Jimenenz from Mexico City accepts the position of judge at Trocales because she wants to search for Raul Gondra's killer and to meet her father, who abandoned the family some time ago. The following characters help Julia in her search: Martin Gondra, who is the elder brother of Raul; Marcial, the doctor in the country; Bondad, a charismatic teacher; Pajarito, who is Julia's secretary; Hamlet, the postman; Malvina and Hilario, friends and owners of the bar in Trocales; and Paulette, a distinguished and enigmatic French woman. Trocales is subdued to overbearing injustices of Don Nicolas Garmendia, the most important man of the village. He is a widower with two children: Paula and Rodrigo. Martin Gondra hates Don Nicolas, because he has stolen the lands from his family and he believes Nicolas is guilty of Raul's death. But Paula meets and falls in love with Martin, and mad of jealousy she tries to kill Julia. After some research, Julia discovers that the real killer of Raul was Paula, she killed him during an argument and she goes to jail. Also Julia discovers the real identity of her father: he is Bondad, who lost his memory. The love is born between Julia and Martin.
