"Muchachitas" was first teen soap opera when I was 5 years old when it aired on July 1991 on Unvision and brings me back memories when I was entering elementary school (Kindergarten) in the 1991 - 1992 school year. This novela has to be Emilio Larrosa's first teen soap opera with a group of four teenage girls who are interested on entering the artistic medium. When it aired on July 1991 I started to watch this novela because I had a huge crush on "Leticia" (Kate del Castillo) and "Monica" (Cecilia Tijerina) but my most favorite was Kate del Castillo despite of her character's role of a a snobbish girl on the novela but she was very pretty and very good looking. Alejandro Camacho's role as the evil millonaire "Federico Cantu" placed a lot obstacles on the girls because one of them were heiress of someone from the novela. Also this was an original story because a novela with four group of teenage girls with the interest of being actresses and models was never seen before in any other teen soap opera and this novela was worth because it also had Laura Leon playing "Esther" was also great and no one can't also forget when "Federico" forced "Leticia" in marrying him and the ending when he died in a fire at the ending episodes of the novela and "Isabel's" wedding at the end and "Elena" (Tiare Scanda) probably didn't show up on the last episode because she was having problems with Emilio Larrosa when Univision was announcing that but even though "Muchachitas" gained a high rating on Univision when it ended on early May 1992. Then my friends and I were sad because we were going to miss it since it was our only favorite teen soap opera and surprisingly a lot of kindergartners watched this novela a lot because the kids were talking so much about (boys and girls) that not only the novela was for teens but it was also for everyone including kindergartners and this novela represented the teenagers of 1992. Last time I saw "Muchachitas" was in 1997 on another Spanish channel which was great seeing it for one last time but never reran again. By the ending there were three more "Muchachitas" which were "Gloria" (Yolanda Ventura), "Lucia" (Itati Cantoral), and "Claudia" (Lorena Herrera) which was great to make it even more exciting. On July 2001 ten years later "Amigas y Rivales" was beign aired on Univision and the previews always said "From the same tradition of Muchachitas comes this great novela of four girls" which made me thought that "Amigas y Rivales" was remake of the novela for the 2001 - 2002 season but it was a whole different but three things "Muchachitas" and "Amigas y Rivales" have in common are same producer (Emilio Larrosa), same writer (Alejandro Pohlenz), and same month of begging and ending (July 1991 - May 1992 for Muchachitas) and (July 2001 - May 2002 for Amigas y Rivales). One thing for sure is this novela is unbeatable than any other teen novela seen in the 1990s. This novela will make me remember when I was in kindergarten and when I was 5 (1991) and 6 (1992). "Muchachitas" is #1 beign the best teen soap opera seen in my life in 1992. THIS NOVELA IS THE BEST!!!
